Wesley Hosted the Inmate Family Council Prison Project Packing Day

Three-thousand gift bags were packed by more than 100 volunteers on Saturday, December 1 at Wesley.  The Inmate Family Council of the Central California Women’s Facility provides inmates with a simple gift each year.  For many, this gift may be the only holiday gift they receive.  Each bag contained greeting cards for the women to use through the year, a pen and a pencil, a notepad, toothpaste and a toothbrush, shampoo and conditioner, soap and hand lotion, an emery board, tea and hot chocolate, and a pack of facial tissue.  These items are collected and sorted all year long.  On the packing day, the items are put into one gallon zip lock bags and packed into boxes.  The boxes were picked up on Monday morning to be delivered to the prison in Chowchilla.   A great start to the Christmas season for the many volunteers!
