The hiking fellowship group is up and running again. I found some info in my email box about an upcoming trip on Saturday, April 7th. Here is the info that I copied and pasted out of an email from Joellyn Hamaguchi…
April 7 – Hite Cove (James & Joellyn lead) – moderate difficulty, 8 mi RT.
South Fork of Merced River – Shorter hike (Henry lead) – easy to moderate in difficulty, 4 mi RT
Trailhead is at Savages Trading Post on Hwy 140, 22 mi northeast of Mariposa. Longer hike to Hite Cove (ruins of a one time vibrant mining village).
The first 2 miles down to the river beach has most of the wildflowers and 1/2 mi further is a great lunch spot on a rippled rock ledge just above river level.
Those who need ride or can give ride, meet at Wesley at 7:15am, rendezvous at Hillside Market on Yosemite Springs Parkway (YLP) at 8am, then carpool/caravan from there to trailhead.
